Westin at Playa Conchal golfing course is found in Guanaste near the city of Brasilito and close to major attractions like Flamingo beach, Tamarindo, and Coco beach. This non-public golfing course is part of the Reserva Conchal resort that houses the Paradisus Playa Conchal resort - of which you must be a guest of to play this course.Playa Conchal
This is one of my favourite courses in Costa Rica. The service is glorious, Carlos Rojas the Head Pro will treat you like a king. The staff is very well trained, courteous and goes out of their way for you to have a great round of golfing. Reserva Conchal golfing course is a Robert Trent Jones II design that's got a mixture of simple and tricky holes. What makes this course special is the mixture of rainforest and ocean scenery.
My fave hole is the 17th hole - a mammoth 210 yard par 3 whose raised tee box offers a spectacular view of Conchal beach and the mountains in the back. That's the only'nice' thing about it - you want to hit a 200 yard windblown shot over water if you're playing the back tees. (Don't worry, there's a 150 yard option for us mortals.)
My arch-enemy is the 10th hole. This dogleg par 4 looks easy but I was finish up in the left OB - even though I teed off with an iron! Then you are left with a long iron to a green that's guarded by a deep bunker on the left, water on the left, forbidden on the left - guess where I hit it, the left. I recommend playing in the early morning like a 6am tee time to circumvent the heat at 12 noon.
If you don't mind the heat, opt for the all you are able to play packages that they offer. Personally I think of myself as an one round, run to the pool bar kind of person.
If you're having a look at living in Guanacaste, Westin at Playa Conchal should be on the top of your list. It's a mature development with a real golfing course that you can play today. It's also part of a gorgeous resort and you'll always have things worth doing there. Alternate golfing courses to Reserva Conchal are Hacienda Pinilla in the Tamarindo area.
